NY weather: Weather alert for heavy snow in New York Wednesday morning

The National Weather Service reported heavy snow in Montgomery, Schoharie, Schenectady, and Albany counties through 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to the weather service, “at 9:59 a.m., an area of heavy snow was over Cobleskill moving east at 50 MPH.”

Interstate 88 between exits 20 and 25; Interstate 90 between exits 25 and 26; and Interstate 890 between exits 1a and 9 are all included in this.

In the following areas, expect significant snowfall:

  • Schoharie and Central Bridge around 10:05 a.m.

  • Delanson around 10:15 a.m.

  • Altamont around 10:20 a.m.

In cold weather conditions, things might quickly get worse. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there.

“In winter weather conditions, conditions can rapidly deteriorate,” the weather service says. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there. If you have to drive into or through this area of heavy snow, go with additional caution. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
