NY weather: Weather alert for snow showers in New York Monday afternoon

At 1:50 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service published a forecast predicting snow showers in Hamilton, Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schoharie, Schenectady, and Albany counties through 2:45 p.m.

“At 1:47 p.m., snow showers were along a line extending from 8 miles north of Caroga Lake to near Springfield and moving east at 35 MPH,” according to the National Weather Service.

Interstate 88 between exits 21 and 25; Interstate 90 between exits 25 and 30; Interstate 890 between exits 1a and 9; and Interstate 87 between exits 10 and 17N are all included in this.

The following areas should see snow showers:


  • Fort Plain, St. Johnsville, Ephratah, Caroga Lake, and Caroga Lake Public Campground around 1:50 p.m.

  • Canajoharie, Sharon Springs, and Ames around 1:55 p.m.

  • Gloversville around 2 p.m.

  • Johnstown, Fonda, and Mayfield around 2:05 p.m.

  • Northville, Cranberry Creek, and Northampton Beach Public Campground around 2:10 p.m.

  • Broadalbin, Fort Johnson, and Tribes Hill around 2:15 p.m.

  • Amsterdam and Edinburg around 2:20 p.m.

  • Hagaman and Central Bridge around 2:25 p.m.

In cold weather conditions, things might quickly get worse. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there.
