NY weather: Weather alert issued for heavy snow in New York Sunday midday

At 10:55 a.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a weather notice for Madison, Onondaga, and Oneida counties, warning of heavy snow through noon.

A line of heavy snow was visible around 10:52 a.m., stretching from Northern Oneida County to the area close to Brewerton in far northern Onondaga County. Through noon, the weather service predicts that it will move east-southeast across Central Oneida, northern Madison, and northern Onondaga counties.

Syracuse, Utica, Clay, Rome, Cicero, Oneida, Kirkland, Lenox, North Syracuse, and Lee are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: 31 to 38 on Interstate 90. New York Interstate 81 between 25 and 30 and close to 22 and 23A and B.

“In winter weather conditions, conditions can rapidly deteriorate,” the weather service continues. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. To get to your destination, slow down and give yourself more time.
