NY weather: Weather alert issued for snow showers in New York until early Thursday

At 11:14 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said that Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Schenectady, Saratoga, Albany, and Rensselaer counties would get snow showers through midnight on Thursday.

“At 11:13 p.m., a band of heavy snow showers was along a line extending from near Fort Johnson to near Cohoes to Monroe and moving southeast at 35 MPH,” according to the meteorological service.

Interstate 88 between exits 23 and 25; Interstate 90 between exits 10 and 29; Interstate 890 between exits 1a and 9; Interstate 87 between exits 23 and 7; and Interstate 787 between exits 1 and 9 are all included in this.

The following areas should see snow showers:


  • Schenectady, Troy, Rotterdam, Cohoes, North Adams, Watervliet, Colonie, Scotia, Latham, and Niskayuna around 11:20 p.m.

  • Albany, Rensselaer, Duanesburg, West Sand Lake, and Averill Park around 11:25 p.m.

  • Guilderland, Savoy, and New Ashford around 11:30 p.m.

  • Delmar, Cheshire, and Altamont around 11:35 p.m.

  • East Greenbush, Stephentown, Voorheesville, and Hancock around 11:40 p.m.

  • Pittsfield around 11:45 p.m.

In cold weather conditions, things might quickly get worse. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there.
