NY weather: Winter weather advisory affecting New York until Wednesday evening

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Orleans, Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, and Ontario counties on Tuesday at 9:31 p.m., which will be in force until Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The weather service also warns of “3 to 5 inches of additional snow accumulation.” Significant blowing and drifting snow will occur in open areas when winds reach 45 mph. On Wednesday morning, there might be a few short but intense snowfalls in the region.

“Be prepared for slick and snow-covered roads. Visibility will be greatly diminished in areas where snow is blowing. The Wednesday morning and evening commutes will be affected by the dangerous circumstances. According to the weather service, gusty gusts will bring down tree branches and result in isolated power outages. Roads will be covered with snow and visibility will be restricted during snowfall periods. When driving, reduce your speed and exercise caution.
