NYC Catholic school calendar: Here are the days students have off in 2025

New York’s Staten Island. Families should mark important events in the Catholic school calendar on their calendars as we move to 2025.

Important dates for pupils, such as time off for federal and religious holidays, are shared in the Archdiocese of New York Superintendent of Schools’ 2024–2025 calendar for Catholic elementary school students on Staten Island.

On December 23, Christmas recess starts.

Notably, the school year typically ends in mid-June, and they do not have a mid-winter vacation in February like their counterparts in public schools.

Here are some important dates for 2025.

January of 2025


  • Jan. 6 Classes resume after Christmas recess

  • Jan. 20 Schools closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

February of 2025


  • Feb. 17 Schools closed for President s Day

April of 2025


  • April 19 – Easter recess begins (includes Good Friday and Easter Monday)

  • April 28 – Classes resume after Easter recess

May 2025


  • May 26 Schools closed for Memorial Day

June 2025


  • June 13 Last day of classes (earliest day to end school based on 4 snow days and all holidays listed in the calendar)
