Xian Zhang, the owner of Birds of a Feather, expressed his shock and dismay over the incident. Speaking to Eater, he said, “It was very bold. Fortunately, nobody got hurt.” Zhang highlighted that the restaurant was full of diners at the time of the robbery, making the criminals’ actions even more startling.

This unsettling crime is the latest in a series of bold robberies that have troubled New York City. Just days earlier, on June 18, a pair of gun-toting robbers made headlines by stealing a $100,000 watch from a man outside the renowned Manhattan restaurant, Carbone. Birds of a Feather, located on Grand Street near Bedford Avenue, is known for its upscale Chinese cuisine, with entrees ranging from $18 to $35. Despite the restaurant’s reputation and busy atmosphere, the robbers showed no hesitation in carrying out their crime in front of a full house.
