NYC Sanitation Dept. hiring emergency snow shovelers

Winter is approaching, and when the snow falls, the New York City Department of Sanitation will require the assistance of the citizens.

The hiring of Emergency Snow Shovelers for the final month of 2024 and into the bitterly cold months of 2025 was announced by Sanitation today.

According to a written statement, snow shovelers begin their work at $18.54 per hour and increase to $27.81 per hour after 40 hours in a week.

The following statement lists the requirements to apply for this position:


  • At least 18-years-old

  • Eligible to work in America

  • Can accomplish heavy physical labor

You can proceed to register as an Emergency Snow Shoveler if you fulfill all three conditions. The statement enumerates every item and form of identification required for application, such as:


  • Two small photos (1 square)

  • Original and copy of two forms of identification

  • Social Security card

You must carry the aforementioned goods because registration appointments take place in sanitary garages.
