NYC weather: AccuWeather details window for snow showers this week

New York’s Staten Island. It is anticipated that the cold snap that swept throughout New York City last weekend will persist in the days ahead.

AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tom Kines says wintry weather, with a risk of flurries, is expected through this coming week.

According to Kines, there won’t be any snow accumulation on Wednesday night or Thursday. He clarified that the cold front that will move across the region early on Thursday will bring with it some heavier snow showers, which may make it harder to see during the morning rush hour.

According to Kines, the local temperature is above freezing, therefore I don’t think it would build up. There’s a good chance that Thursday morning may bring some more intense snowfall.

Forecasters are keeping an eye on a potentially significant storm that might make landfall in the city late this weekend or early next week. As New Yorkers enter the second week of December, the storm may bring rain, snow, or ice.

Although Kines pointed out that the situation might alter, AccuWeather is currently monitoring it.

Those who are hoping for nice weather will be disappointed to learn that it is not coming this week.

Temperatures could reach far into the 40s on Wednesday for a short while, according to Kines. However, there won’t be any extended periods of high temperatures, such as those in the 50s, anytime soon.

Another blast of colder air will arrive after Thursday, bringing Friday’s temperatures back into the 30s when the wind blows.

According to Kines, you could probably deduct 10 to 15 degrees from the actual temperature to have an idea of how it will feel. It will feel like it is 20 or 25 degrees outside on Friday, even though the real temperature will be in the 30s.
