According to NBC New York, the NYPD has arrested a guy who was wanted for interrogation in relation to the Sunday morning burning death of a female subway passenger on an MTA F train.
According to the article, police think the woman was asleep on the train while seated when the unnamed male came up to her and burned her alive by setting her garments on fire with a lighter.
Around 7:30 a.m., responding police at the Coney Island subway station on Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn discovered the woman standing inside the train car completely engulfed in flames, according to the report.
Shortly after the fire was put out, the woman was declared dead at the scene, according to the report. Police have yet to reveal the victim’s identify.
At a press conference on Sunday afternoon, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that the person of interest committed one of the most heinous crimes a person could possibly perpetrate against another human being.
The report stated that the suspect reportedly remained on the site after the event and was sitting on a bench just outside the train car.
