NYPD: Man, 29, caught with cocaine, oxycodone in car stop on Staten Island

New York’s Staten Island. According to authorities, a 29-year-old male was arrested and cocaine and oxycodone were found during a traffic stop in New Brighton.

According to the police and criminal complaint, David Puebla of Bement Avenue in West Brighton was driving a gray 2025 Hyundai Sonata that failed to signal when he turned left from Richmond Terrace into Lafayette Avenue at approximately 9:20 p.m. on January 2.

According to the complaint, officers found a clear plastic bag on Puebla’s person that included cocaine pebbles and a black scale that had residue from the stimulant.

The complaint claims that shortly after, when conducting a search close to the 120th Precinct stationhouse in St. George, officers discovered cocaine inside the Hyundai.

Officers said they discovered roughly 15 multicolored twist bags and glassine envelopes with cocaine powder and pebbles inside the Hyundai’s center console.

According to the complaint, a clear twist bag contained forty-four oxycodone tablets, and about eighteen multicolored twist bags and glassine envelopes of cocaine rocks were hidden in the trunk.

The defendant’s license was allegedly suspended or revoked at the time of his arrest, according to the authorities.

Puebla is accused of aggravated unlicensed motor vehicle operation, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and a violation of a motor vehicle license for failing to signal for a turn.

According to public records, the defendant entered a not guilty plea to all allegations, was freed on his own recognizance, and is scheduled to return to Criminal Court on February 26.
