NYPD: Man sought for questioning in connection to fires set in Manhattan and Queens

The NYPD is requesting the public’s help in identifying a person who is wanted for interrogation in relation to multiple alleged fire incidents in Manhattan and Queens.

A marked NYPD emergency truck parked in front of 254 Broadway was damaged after an unidentified individual allegedly started a fire at around 2:20 a.m. on Friday, January 10.

Authorities claim that at 2:35 a.m., approximately fifteen minutes later, the same person started a second fire in front of 14 Murray St., causing damage to another unoccupied car.

A statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information stated that shortly after, at around 2:55 a.m., the unnamed person allegedly burned a paper cup and tossed it into a trash can near the Brooklyn Bridge City Hall Train Station.

The anonymous person is accused of burning a pile of trash and a sleeping passenger inside a northbound J train at the Woodhaven Avenue train station in Queens at around 03:40 in the morning. They then reportedly fled the scene on foot to an undetermined place.

According to authorities, there were no reported injuries.

The NYPD made surveillance photos of the wanted person public. The department’s Arson and Explosion Unit is looking into the four events.
