NYPD reports a single car theft on Staten Island from Nov. 25-Dec. 1: Here’s where

According to the NYPD’s most recent CompStat data, the total number of car thefts reported in the borough for the year ending November 25 decreased by 25% (313 vs. 418) compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the database, during the most recent week for which statistics are available, from November 25 to December 1, one car was reported stolen on Staten Island.

A look at the situation is as follows:

A car theft was reported on Rossville’s Albourne and Lenevar avenues around 10 a.m. on November 26.

The NYPD implemented a tactical change to reduce auto thefts starting at the end of the summer of 2023. Law enforcement officials were able to reduce the number of grand larceny car cases that were on the rise at the time by creating a complex, multi-agency system to collect and evaluate intelligence.
