BUFFALO, N.Y. — An unsettling incident aboard an American Airlines flight from Oregon to New Hampshire led to the arrest of 25-year-old Neil McCarthy upon its diversion to Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
McCarthy allegedly committed indecent exposure by urinating in the aisle during the flight, prompting a swift response from authorities. The diversion occurred following a distress call to the NFTA Police, who immediately boarded the aircraft upon landing at Gate 2.
Upon questioning by law enforcement, a flight attendant corroborated the account, leading to McCarthy’s arrest and removal from the plane. He now faces charges of indecent exposure, which could carry a maximum penalty of six months’ imprisonment and a $5,000 fine upon conviction. McCarthy appeared in court the same day and was released on his recognizance pending further legal proceedings.
