Overturned vehicle on Verrazzano-Narrows adds additional delays during heavy holiday traffic

New York’s Staten Island. During the peak of holiday traffic on Wednesday night, there were more delays on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge due to an accident involving an overturned vehicle.

MTA authorities and emergency vehicles responded to the area, closing two lanes on the lower level of the Staten Island-bound side of the span, according to an MTA spokeswoman.

It happened shortly before nine o’clock at night. According to an FDNY official, the accident was cleared shortly before 10 p.m. with no reported casualties.
