Police searching for 6 who allegedly took MTA train for joyride in Queens Saturday night

The NYPD is requesting the public’s help in identifying and tracking down six people who are wanted for interrogation in connection with a Queens reckless endangerment incident.

Six unidentified people allegedly broke into an unoccupied R train, which was on a layup track used for trains that are not in operation, at the Forest Hills 71st Avenue subway station on Saturday at approximately 10:20 p.m., according to police reports.

After operating the train, the group allegedly marked the glass panels on the train’s camera, causing damage. After then, the people got off the train and started running in an unidentified direction. The Deputy Commissioner of Public Information for the NYPD issued a statement stating that no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

According to reports, the people took the train back to a location nearby where it had been taken. Later, they shared a video of the purported heist on social media.

The NYPD made public a surveillance photo of the people they were looking for.

Call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, in Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) if you have any information about this incident. Additionally, the public can provide tips by visiting X @NYPDTips or the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/.
