A Rochester man, identified as Adan Mohamed, 35, was arrested on Friday following a disturbing incident where he allegedly broke into a woman’s residence in Buffalo and subjected her to a harrowing assault.
The ordeal unfolded around 10 p.m. on Thursday when Buffalo police responded to a distress call from a 12-year-old child, reporting that her mother was being violently assaulted inside their home on the 400 block of Normal Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers heard screams emanating from within and swiftly breached a locked door to discover a severely injured woman lying on the floor.
The victim recounted to authorities that the assailant, identified as Mohamed and known to her, forcefully entered her home, proceeded to physically and sexually assault her, forcibly took her phone, and fled through a window that he had shattered during the tumultuous encounter.
Mohamed was promptly apprehended by law enforcement following an intensive investigation into the incident. He now faces a series of serious charges, including first-degree burglary, second-degree strangulation, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault, and second-degree harassment. In addition to these charges, Mohamed was found to be wanted in Rochester on a separate warrant stemming from another undisclosed incident.
The Buffalo community has been deeply shaken by this egregious act of violence, prompting calls for increased vigilance and support for victims of such heinous crimes. The investigation into the sexual assault allegations remains ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward and assist in ensuring justice for the victim.
