Source: Police called to Queens funeral for mother fatally stabbed on Staten Island

New York’s Staten Island. According to a source with knowledge of the incident, police were called to a Queens church on Sunday for the funeral of Jennira Roundtree, 43, a mother who was fatally stabbed in West Brighton.

According to someone with knowledge of the situation, officers were called in response to a report of an allegedly unruly gathering at the mother’s burial.

According to a representative for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, no one was taken into custody, summoned, or injured.

The Rockaways’ Roundtreeas Macedonia Baptist Church of Arverne, located at 330 Beach 67th St., was the site of the last respects, according to the Daily News.

Numerous altercations erupted both inside and outside the church, according to the Daily News.

On January 13, Jasmin Thompson, who lived in New Brighton in the 400 block of Richmond Terrace, was taken into custody in relation to the attack that killed Roundtree.

According to sources, the 43-year-old woman was attempting to save her daughter from a crowd-sized altercation outside the local Housing Authority complex where they resided.

According to authorities, Roundtree, a mother of four and grandmother of one, was repeatedly stabbed in the chest at the complex on January 7 near 820 Henderson Ave.

According to accounts, a fight that started between teenagers turned into an altercation with over 20 ladies and girls.

After being taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton by emergency medical services, Roundtree passed away from her wounds.

Mario Gallucci, the defendant’s attorney, told the Daily News that Thompson was protecting herself when Roundtree was fatally injured.

The day following Roundtree’s passing, a candlelight vigil was held at the West Brighton Houses as the community grieved her passing.

Diamond Brantley, Roundtree’s neighbor and friend, told the Advance/SILive.com that she will stop at nothing to keep her children safe. In order to prevent any drama, she would constantly come out and tell them to go back inside. She never experienced any issues, and I sincerely hope that the person responsible is apprehended.
