New York’s Staten Island. According to a source with knowledge of the inquiry, a 92-year-old woman was hit by a car on Wednesday night while she was crossing the street in the middle of the block on busy Hylan Boulevard in New Dorp.

After being taken by emergency medical services to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, the 92-year-old woman is still in critical condition Thursday morning, according to a representative for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

According to the police spokesperson, the collision occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Hylan Boulevard between Lindbergh and Allison avenues.

According to a person familiar with the inquiry, the woman was not in or close to a crosswalk when the collision happened, approximately 77 feet south of Lindbergh Avenue.

According to a preliminary investigation by the NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad, the 92-year-old pedestrian was struck by a 2017 Honda Pilot driven by a 49-year-old male who was heading on Hylan Boulevard toward Oakwood.

The police spokesperson stated Thursday morning that no arrests had been made and that the investigation was still ongoing.
