Staten Island HS boys’ hoops: Here’s the complete schedule for S.I. Catholic Charities Freshman Invitational

This holiday weekend, Staten Island Catholic Charities will conduct its annual High School Freshman Invitational basketball festival at the CYO-MIV Center on the slopes of Mount Loretto in Pleasant Plains, offering even more good things.

Launched in 2011, the event is being hosted for the 12th time; the epidemic ruined 2020 and 2021.

“We’ve had some fantastic games over the years,” CYO County Director Mike Neely remarked. For the first time since 2019, a public school team (Curtis) is taking part.

The original plan was to unite freshman teams from some of the best programs in Long Island and the city, and it has since become a regular feature of the schedule. For these young people beginning their high school careers, it’s a fantastic occasion.

The Jaques Committee, Shootin School, Integrated Athletic Initiative, JAG Physical Therapy, Because We Can Sports, and the CYO are the event sponsors.

Friday’s schedule includes the following games: Xavier vs. St. Peter’s at 5 p.m.; Moore Catholic vs. St. John the Baptist at 12:30 p.m.; Holy Trinity vs. Regis at 2 p.m.; Msgr. Farrell against. Nazareth at 3:30 p.m.; St. Edmund’s vs. Curtis at 9:30 a.m.; and St. Joseph by-the-Sea vs. Loughlin at 11 a.m.
