New York’s Staten Island. According to a law enforcement source who spoke to the Advance/SILive.com, a 43-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed during a large-scale altercation outside her apartment complex joined the fight to try to save her daughter.
According to authorities, Jennira Roundtree was fatally injured Tuesday evening outside the West Brighton Houses apartment building located at 820 Henderson Ave.
According to the source, a fight broke out after at least one adult confronted the victim’s child, who was among a group of children around the age of 13.
According to a prior law enforcement source, up to 20 women were engaged.
The insider claimed that a social media post was the catalyst for the altercation.
According to the report, Roundtree got into the fight to rescue her daughter.
The encounter ended with Roundtree being fatally stabbed.
Nina Diggs, a cousin of Roundtree, told the Daily News that she merely wanted to protect her child. When she walked outside to bring her child inside, she discovered that she was accompanied by a group of around a dozen girls. They all jumped her when she attempted to yank her infant away.
Candlelight vigil
Roundtree, a mother of four and a grandmother of one, was honored with a candlelight vigil on Wednesday night at the West Brighton Houses, attended by dozens of friends, family, and community members.
Many in attendance lit votive lamps in Roundtree’s memory, and at the extremely cold, somber gathering, shoulders were sobbed on and embraces were exchanged.
Others scrawled love messages on a giant cardboard sign that was affixed to the front of the building and carried heart-shaped balloons. It included multiple pictures of the local matriarch.
Diamond Brantley, Roundtree’s neighbor and friend, told the Advance/SILive.com that she will stop at nothing to keep her children safe. In order to prevent any drama, she would constantly come out and tell them to go back inside. She never experienced any issues, and I sincerely hope that the person responsible is apprehended.
