Student killed 2 people at Christian school in Wisconsin before shooting self, police said

(Editor’s note: The tragedy claimed the lives of five people, including the shooter.)

Madison, Wisconsin. Two individuals were killed in the last week before Christmas break when a young person opened fire at a private Christian school in Wisconsin on Monday morning. According to officials, the shooter also passed away.

Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes reported that other persons were hurt at Abundant Life Christian School, a K–12 institution with roughly 390 pupils, but he did not provide any information about the casualties. Five people were killed, according to police earlier.

According to a statement from Madison police, the alleged shooter was a student there. Seven persons were injured, according to the police, with injuries ranging from mild to potentially fatal.

Barnes informed reporters that it is a very depressing day for Madison as well as the entire nation.

He claimed that when police hurried into the school after receiving a warning just before 11 a.m., they refrained from firing their firearms. Barnes proposed that the gunman committed suicide.

According to the chief, they discovered the guilty party dead.

According to a law enforcement officer who spoke to The Associated Press, investigators think the shooter used a 9mm pistol. Since the official was not authorized to discuss the ongoing inquiry, they talked on condition of anonymity.

Roads surrounding the school were closed by police. To support local law enforcement, federal officers were present at the scene.

As we wait for additional information, we are praying for the children, teachers, and entire Abundant Life school community. We are also thankful for the first responders who are responding swiftly, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers said in a statement.

The White House said in a statement that officials were in contact with local authorities to offer help and that President Joe Biden had been updated on the shooting.

There is no denomination at Abundant Life Christian School.

John Diaz De Leon, a local resident and member of the nearby City Church, told WMTV-TV that he heard a loud siren blare when police arrived.

I had no idea Madison had so many police cars. A couple of the men we saw had long rifles. According to De Leon, the cops brought a dog into the school. Afterwards, I witnessed groups of children entering the church sanctuary from the school.
