These are 5 of the newest speed camera locations on Staten Island, data shows

New York’s Staten Island — Following a significant expansion in 2022, New York City’s speed cameras are operational around-the-clock, ticketing drivers every day of the year. Although the city’s Department of Transportation (DOT) has been silent on camera locations, it is still possible to monitor the locations of the contentious devices.

According to the Department of Finance, Advance/SILive.com examined all speed camera infractions issued by the city in 2024 using publicly accessible data from New York City’s Open Data portal.

We identified five places where cameras were recently installed by comparing speed camera data from earlier in the year with ticketing data up to the most recent available month, November.

Additionally, we can estimate the amount of money generated by each camera by multiplying the number of tickets they issued by the $50 fine associated with a speed camera violation.
