This spectacular light installation at Queens Botanical Garden is a family-friendly must-do

Queens, New York. Bring your children, mittens, and scarves, and enter a captivating, enchanted realm at the Queens Botanical Garden for Lektrik: A Festival of Lights, which runs until March 23.

You can beat the winter blues with this essential addition to your list of winter family activities. Visitors of all ages will be awed by this immersive, lit wonderland, which features more than 100 light sculptures created by 150 talented artisans.

Pack your bags and take a leisurely stroll along the mile-long, thoughtfully designed outdoor walkway for about an hour. Even young children will put down their gadgets to explore this vibrant, lifelike world that resembles a video game. At 5 p.m., lights come on, producing a breathtaking show of contrast and color.

Since it is a botanical garden, the winding route features over 40 life-size lamp-lit scenarios, such as illuminating animals, gleaming Ionic columns, knights in really shining armor, enormous mushrooms, and glowing otherworldly flowers.

The creativity of the 120 tons of steel, 150,000 feet of silk, and more than 1 million LED lights that went into creating this electric wonderland will astound both children and adults. Giant polar bears, dogs and kittens, a railroad locomotive and brilliant teapot, huge birds, and a tunnel of lights ideal for pictures are among the highlights.

In addition to enjoying the breathtaking illumination displays that turn Queens Botanical Garden into an immersive cultural wonderland, visitors are urged to dress appropriately for the weather.
