Upcoming Jersey Shore bar will open for 2025 season with cheesesteaks and burgers

The old Goodnight Irene’s in Wildwood is already undergoing renovations in preparation for a new pub that is anticipated to open there this spring.

In an Instagram post on Monday, The Rook, a restaurant and bar in Philadelphia’s Manayunk neighborhood, revealed that it would be opening a second location in Wildwood this spring. Renovations have already started, according to Rich Ennis, one of The Rooks’ owners, who spoke on Wednesday.

“We’re bringing our Philly-inspired menu with a seafood shore twist, signature cocktails, and, of course, the good vibes you know and love to the Wildwood community after the success of our first spot in Manayunk,” the post stated.

A slideshow of what looked to be renderings of the building with fresh paint and a refurbished ground level was included in the article.

On Wednesday, Ennis stated that the owners hope to launch on May 1.

Ennis stated over the phone that “we did a very similar project in Manyunk with the bar where we took an older, darker location and transformed it into a space with more light.” In Wildwood, we intend to accomplish the same thing: add some personality and brightness to the bar.

In addition to pub staples like cheesesteaks and burgers, the menu will also have a more upscale selection, according to Ennis. The tavern also intends to serve brunch and breakfast, he noted.

After 17 years of operation, Goodnight Irene’s declared it would close this weekend.Maps on Google

After operating at the intersection of Pacific and East Poplar Avenues for 17 years, Goodnight Irene closed its doors on November 17, 2024.

This weekend will regrettably be our last after 17 amazing years, the bar said in a Facebook post last November. You have no idea how much we appreciate you guys.

Goodnight Irene’s had brick oven pizzas, other bar fare, and a selection of drinks. The Poplar Cafe was another name for the place.
