Update: Congestion clears on Goethals Bridge after backups from Staten Island Expressway

Update: The Port Authority reports that the previous delays on the Goethals Bridge were resolved at approximately 9:20 a.m.

Update: The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey reports that traffic on the Outerbridge Crossing is returning to normal at approximately 8 a.m.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Staten Island Expressway, which heads toward Brooklyn, and the Outerbridge Crossing had delays during Monday morning rush hour.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey reported that traffic backed up onto the Goethals Bridge due to congestion from the expressway.

The Port Authority claims that delays were caused by high volume at the Outerbridge Crossing to Staten Island.
