New York’s Staten Island — During the 2024 Christmas rush, the U.S. Postal Service has been quite busy sorting and delivering packages. Its distribution, shipping, and operating procedures are more effective than before.
Thanks to the latest Small Delivery Unit Sorter (SDUS), which can scan and sort up to 3,000 packages an hour, the Postal Service is on track to move around 8 billion items across the country this year, said Xavier Hernandez, a USPS Strategic Communications officer. “With the package loading machine, we are definitely working more efficiently this year,” says letter carrier Frederick King.
The suggested priority mail deadline is today.
Our suggested send-by dates for this year’s anticipated Christmas delivery within the continental United States prior to December 25 are as follows:
Dec. 19:Priority Mail service
December 21: Express Priority Mail Service
