New York’s Staten Island — During the 2024 Christmas rush, the U.S. Postal Service has been quite busy sorting and delivering packages. Its distribution, shipping, and operating procedures are more effective than before.
According to USPS Strategic Communications officer Xavier Hernandez, the USPS has processed about 8 billion items since Black Friday, and we anticipate processing even more by Christmas, thanks to the newest Small Delivery Unit Sorter (SDUS), which can scan and sort up to 3,000 packages every hour. “With the package loading machine, we are definitely working more efficiently this year,” says letter carrier Frederick King.
The suggested priority mail deadline is today.
Our suggested send-by dates for this year’s anticipated Christmas delivery within the continental United States prior to December 25 are as follows:
December 19: Mail service priority
December 21: Express Priority Mail Service
