Water main break causes heavy flooding on Staten Island Tuesday

New York’s Staten Island. On Tuesday night, water accumulated in a residential area of Clifton due to a major water main break.

Just before 7 p.m., FDNY personnel were dispatched to the site at Bay Street and Greenfield Avenue.

While the DEP was brought in to assess the problem, firefighters were monitoring nearby properties for flooding, according to an FDNY representative.

Water flooded the road beneath an overpass near the Clifton railway station, closing off a significant portion of Bay Street from Townsend to Greenfield avenues.
