New York’s Staten Island. Due to a suspected water main break, both southbound lanes of Hylan Boulevard are temporarily blocked near Lincoln Avenue, causing traffic to stop for a portion of the vital thoroughfare on Saturday afternoon.
As of 12:30 p.m., many cars from the New York City Department of Environmental Protection are obstructing the lanes leading to Tottenville.
According to on-scene sources, a water main break is the reason for the closure.
All Hylan Boulevard traffic heading south is being rerouted to Lincoln Avenue. For many blocks, cars are stranded in stalled traffic.
A request for comment has not yet received a response from the Department of Environmental Protection.
Since this is a work in progress, more details will be added as they become available.
