Syracuse, N.Y. Over the weekend, Lake Effect snow dumped more than five feet of snow on one town, slamming most of Western New York and the North Country.
Much of Upstate New York saw snowfall, but the North Country saw seven of the top ten highest snowfall totals.
As of 7 a.m. Monday, Barners Corners in Jefferson County had 65.5 inches, the most on the list.
The Buffalo Bills’ home field, Orchard Park, received 20 inches as of Sunday afternoon, although it was not included in the storm totals for the weekend. During the prime-time football game, even more snow fell.
Monday is predicted to see further snowfall. In Western New York, lake effect snow warnings are in force until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The National Weather Service said that between 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday evening, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties could see anywhere from 12 to 20 inches of snowfall.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Madison, Onondaga, and Southern Cayuga counties through 1 p.m. Tuesday. It is anticipated that an extra 2 to 4 inches of snow will fall, with western Onondaga County receiving the greatest totals.
