Woman, 41, stable after being struck by vehicle on Staten Island Wednesday morning

New York’s Staten Island. According to authorities, a 41-year-old lady who was hit by a car in New Dorpearly on Wednesday morning is in stable condition.

According to a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, the woman was struck by a 2008 Honda car that was making an attempt to turn right onto Hylan Boulevard after she had entered the crosswalk between New Dorp Lane and Hylan Boulevard at around 5:20 a.m.

According to the spokesperson, the victim was taken to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze after complaining of back and head pain.

Police said the driver was summoned for failing to yield to a pedestrian who had the right-of-way while he was still at the scene.

At least six collisions involving residents being hit by cars while trying to cross Staten Island streets have occurred in the last six weeks, making the past few months hazardous and occasionally lethal for pedestrians in the borough.

Some of these collisions involved pedestrians crossing both inside and outside of crosswalks, according to the NYPD and people familiar with current investigations.

Several of these incidents have occurred on Hylan Boulevard, including one on October 31 where police say 37-year-old Justine Perez was died after being struck close to the same New Dorp Lane intersection where the collision occurred on Wednesday morning.

Additionally, a source familiar with the inquiry claims that on December 4, a 92-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was hit by a car after allegedly crossing the street in the middle of the block on Hylan Boulevard between Lindbergh and Allison avenues in New Dorp.

According to authorities, on November 13, 57-year-old Christine Wasnieski was killed after she and her 80-year-old mother were hit by a Dodge Ram pickup truck at the junction of Jefferson Avenue and Hylan Boulevard in Dongan Hills when they were on their way to a doctor’s appointment.
