Woman, 51, stable after being struck by vehicle on Staten Island Thursday morning

New York’s Staten Island. According to authorities, a 51-year-old lady who was hit by a car during Rossville rush hour on Thursday morning is still in stable condition.

According to a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, the victim was struck by a white 2023 Ford pickup truck driven by a 78-year-old driver who was trying to make a left turn onto Mason Boulevard after she had entered the crosswalk at Winant Avenue and Mason Boulevard at around 8:50 a.m.

According to the spokesperson, the woman was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton while aware and attentive, despite having minor injuries to her torso.

The driver was summoned for failing to yield to a pedestrian who had the right-of-way, and police say the driver stayed at the site.

After the collision, a marked police vehicle was parked close to the intersection.

The incident occurred one day after a 2008 Honda vehicle struck a 41-year-old woman at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Hylan Boulevard and New Dorp Lane in New Dorpat. The woman’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, and her condition was reported as stable.

At least seven collisions involving residents being hit by cars while trying to cross Staten Island streets have occurred in the previous seven weeks, making the past few months hazardous and occasionally deadly for pedestrians in the borough.

Some of these collisions involved pedestrians crossing both inside and outside of crosswalks, according to the NYPD and people familiar with current investigations.
