In a significant development for law enforcement in Jersey City, Anthony Phillips, 31, and Shannon Tisdale, 32, have been formally charged for their alleged involvement in a drug distribution ring linked to the notorious “Lex Mob” street gang. The charges, announced by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger, stem from an extensive investigation into narcotics trafficking centered around Lexington and Bergen avenues.
Phillips, known by aliases “Ant” or “Little Ant,” has a criminal history that includes a prior conviction for aggravated manslaughter, for which he served a 13-year sentence and was recently released on parole in March 2024.
His re-arrest on April 24, 2024, followed an observed drug transaction where law enforcement seized 12 containers of suspected cocaine and 13 bags of suspected heroin. During the pursuit, Phillips discarded a loaded firearm, leading to additional charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
Tisdale, known as “Doonk,” was also apprehended after being implicated in a drug distribution conspiracy during the same investigation. His involvement underscores the scope of operations conducted by the “Lex Mob” gang, known for its pervasive influence in the area.
The charges against Phillips and Tisdale include conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine, possession with intent to distribute narcotics and firearm-related offenses. These charges carry significant penalties, with Phillips facing a maximum of 15 years for firearm possession as a felon, a mandatory minimum of five years for possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and additional terms for drug distribution charges. Tisdale faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for his role in the drug conspiracy.
