An Ecuadorian national, Christian Inga, 25, was arrested Tuesday in connection with a brutal attack on a 13-year-old girl in Kissena Park, Flushing. The NYPD reports that community members identified and detained Inga using a belt to prevent his escape until police arrived.
Inga is accused of a series of charges, including rape, robbery, kidnapping, sex abuse, and criminal possession of a weapon. The arrest followed a significant response from the community and social media, driven by clear surveillance footage released by the NYPD.

Inga, who entered the U.S. in June 2021, has a history of minor legal issues but no prior arrests in New York. He admitted his involvement after being shown surveillance footage, citing a drug problem as a contributing factor. The attack, described as “satanic” and a “parent’s nightmare,” has shocked the local community and prompted a massive police effort to bring the perpetrator to justice.
