Michael B. Jordan Helps Black Communities Access Health Resources Inspired by His Mother’s Lupus Journey!

Renowned actor Michael B. Jordan has embarked on a transformative journey driven by personal inspiration and a commitment to community health. Influenced deeply by his mother’s courageous battle with lupus, Jordan has partnered for the second consecutive year with Propel, a flavored bottled water company, to spearhead initiatives aimed at bridging gaps in health resources for Black communities.

Last year, their collaboration bore fruit with the establishment of the WalkGood LA studio, a vibrant space dedicated to promoting wellness through yoga and fitness activities. This year, Jordan’s vision expands through the Propel Your City Project, which will create physical hubs in Newark, NJ, Atlanta, GA, Houston, TX, and Los Angeles. These hubs will serve as dynamic centers offering free fitness classes and wellness programs to residents, aiming to foster community health and empowerment.

In a recent interview with AFROTECH™, Jordan highlighted the project’s evolution, emphasizing its role in not only providing physical spaces but also in catalyzing a broader movement towards accessible health and wellness.

His partnership with WalkGood LA’s founder, Etienne Maurice, underscores a shared commitment to making healthy living enjoyable and attainable, particularly in underserved communities.

Reflecting on his health journey, Jordan acknowledged his natural athleticism but noted a transformative shift in his approach to fitness, especially during roles like those in the “Creed” franchise. Yet, his deepest motivation remains rooted in his mother’s resilience against lupus, which has taught him profound lessons about the importance of proactive health management.
