Shocking Arrests: 7 Customs Officers Charged in NY Larceny Case!

New York State Police have made significant strides in law enforcement with the arrest of seven current and former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers. The arrests follow a meticulous investigation into allegations of a grand larceny scheme involving the misappropriation of funds from federal accounts and union funds.

Police identified the suspects as:

  • Thomas O’Keefe – Arrested for Grand Larceny 3rd (Felony)
  • Joseph McVey – Grand Larceny 4th (Felony)
  • Jamie Goheens – Grand Larceny 3rd (Felony)
  • Roy Arndt – Grand Larceny 4th (Felony)
  • Michael Lacey – Grand Larceny 4th (Felony)
  • Craig Mothersell – Grand Larceny 3rd (Felony)
  • David Murtagh – Petit Larceny (Misdemeanor)

According to authorities, the officers allegedly exploited their positions by double-billing both federal agencies and the union for official travel expenses and by obtaining unauthorized cash advances. These actions, they claim, were undertaken for personal gain, constituting serious breaches of trust and financial misconduct.

The charges against the individuals vary, with six facing felony charges such as Grand Larceny in the 3rd and 4th degrees, which carry substantial penalties upon conviction.

One individual has been charged with a misdemeanor for petit larceny. The arrests underscore the diligent efforts of law enforcement agencies to uphold integrity within federal institutions and hold accountable those who abuse their positions for personal enrichment.
