Former President Donald Trump has called on the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene following his conviction on all counts in his New York criminal trial related to falsifying business records. Trump’s appeal to the nation’s highest court hinges on the assertion that his trial was unjustly influenced by political motivations.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump condemned the verdict and criticized the timing of his sentencing, which is set just days before the Republican National Convention. “The ‘Sentencing’ for not having done anything wrong will be, conveniently for the Fascists, 4 days before the Republican National Convention,” he wrote.
Trump accused the trial’s overseers of being biased, stating, “A Radical Left Soros backed D.A., who ran on a platform of ‘I will get Trump,’ reporting to an ‘Acting’ Local Judge, appointed by the Democrats, who is HIGHLY CONFLICTED, will make a decision which will determine the future of our Nation?” He concluded, “The United States Supreme Court MUST DECIDE!”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) echoed Trump’s call for the Supreme Court to overturn the verdict, underscoring the emotional support Trump continues to receive from Republican leaders. Johnson’s statement reflects a growing push among Republicans to seek judicial intervention in defense of their leading presidential candidate.
Trump’s legal team has indicated plans to appeal the verdict after sentencing next month. The process would initially go through New York’s appellate courts before potentially reaching the U.S. Supreme Court. The team faces a significant challenge, as the Supreme Court typically intervenes only in cases involving constitutional or federal law issues.
